Do You Know the Best Job Search Strategy?

If you do some research, you will find that just about every book and human resource advisor offers some kind of job search strategy. Unfortunately, many of these blueprints were devised during economic periods when jobs were plentiful. Others were created by people that have never had to try and find a job performing tasks they were not trained for, or did not have an exact background to perform. Under these circumstances, it should come as no surprise that using this kind of job search strategy will lead to failure in the modern economy.

Four Critical Steps to Finding a Job

While you may not realize it, today it is more important than ever to take full advantage of all four critical steps to finding a job:

  • find out as much as you can about the company where you want to work

  • create a compelling and specific resume or series of application responses

  • make every word during your interview count

  • follow up after the interview

There is no question that the vast majority of people looking for a job search strategy overlook steps one and four more than nay other. If you do not do the research in step one, nothing else is going to line up. Sadly, if you read most books on job hunting, they devote very little, if any time to this critical point. This is just one of many reasons why you need to read a book, or obtain advice from someone that knows what kind of research it takes to really have a chance at getting any job you choose to apply for.

Formulate Your Game Plan

When it comes right down to it, formulating a job search strategy is not so different from creating a business plan. You must identify your “customer” and then figure out how you are going to get them to hire you. While this is not a complicated task, you may find yourself lost if you don’t know the steps, let alone how to carry them out.

Take Action on Your New Job Search Strategy

Over the years, I’ve watched many people go to seminars, read books, or even ask questions online about formulating resumes and tackling interview situations. Weeks later they still don’t have jobs. Why? Surprisingly enough, most have not got a clue where the real jobs are. Sure – you can look online and in classified ads. But those are not the only places! Perhaps it can be said that the best job search strategy in the world is the one that you actually put into action.

Today, I want to help every unemployed person create and put into action a job hunt strategy that will lead to employment. This is why I wrote my book, Overcoming the Overqualified Myth, and offer advice via my forum. If you haven’t got a job, and see no prospects of getting one anytime soon, you owe it to yourself to at least read my ebook. Why should you try to work with outdated information from people that have never been in your situation when I am here, and I succeeded in situations very similar to yours?
