I have been reading, with some interest, the exploits and successes of Wikileaks. It has also come to my attention that a number of communications from American diplomats are going to be released. Some, or perhaps many of them will be damaging to the relations between my country and other countries. If it were just a matter of embarrassing our federal politicians (ex. who they are having affairs with, etc), or exposing outright criminal acts - I would wholeheartedly support such publications.
I feel, however, "exposing" how our diplomats assess critical situations, what they say among themselves, and similar matters is seriously wrong. It doesn't have to do with them, or their little lives. On the other hand, it DOES have to do with the safety of tourists that travel overseas, oppressed ciitzens in foreign countries that come to our embassies for assylum, and finally, the military troops that may pay with their lives when diplomacy fails.
Please do not forget our diplomats put themselves in between opposing parties in order to negotiate some kind of non-violent outcome. Your publications may prevent them from doing their job. If you don't care about my family and friends serving in the military, I sincerely hope you stop and think about your own hide and your own family - because one day you may just find yourself on a killing field, and know that your own actions caused the bullets flying in your direction.
For all of us - please do not publish these files.
